Our Scholars Celebrate Christmas in New York City

The Chrysalis Project gifted a group of bright young women an unforgettable experience—a festive day trip to New York City. Much more than just a holiday outing, this trip was an opportunity to expose our young scholars to experiences beyond their hometown and empower them to expand their minds to the wonderful possibilities the world has to offer.

The day began as our mentees boarded the train bound for Manhattan. For some, this was their first time traveling to New York City by train, a simple yet powerful reminder of the beauty the world has waiting for them.

Once in the city, immersed in enchanting holiday displays, the scholars visited the legendary Macy's Christmas Gallery at Herald Square. Surrounded by sparkling lights and the festive energy of holiday shoppers, the scholars explored the beautifully decorated storefronts nearby, soaking in the magic of the season.

The next stop was a lively brunch at the whimsical Sugar Factory, a treat for the senses and a moment of indulgence that celebrated the joy of the holidays.  Afterwards, the group made their way to the iconic Rockefeller Center, where they visited the historic Christmas tree.

The day concluded with a heartwarming celebration over dinner, where the group came together to celebrate a mentee for her birthday. In true Chrysalis fashion, the moment wasn’t just about cake and candles; it was a powerful affirmation of community, support, and the joy of uplifting one another at every milestone.

Trips like this are more than a day of sightseeing. They are transformative experiences that encourage young women to envision a life beyond limitations — to dream bigger, reach higher, and recognize that the world is theirs to explore. For The Chrysalis Project, these excursions are essential to opening minds and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

When young women are given the tools and opportunities to grow, they blossom into forces that can change the world.

Your support makes trips like this possible. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to expand the possibilities of the young leaders we serve.
