Students Explore Careers in Law Through Partnership with Norris McLaughlin Attorneys at Law

Following a meeting with Ed Miller, Business Development & Marketing Director of Norris McLaughlin, he expressed great enthusiasm about partnering with The Chrysalis Project in 2026 to provide our young ladies with meaningful exposure to the legal profession. Through this partnership, students had an opportunity to learn not only about careers as attorneys, but also about the many other professional roles that are essential to the successful operation of a law firm.
As part of this partnership, our students visited both Norris McLaughlin's Bridgewater, New Jersey office and their New York office, gaining firsthand exposure to professional legal environments and the day-to-day operations of a successful law firm. For many participants, these visits marked their first time stepping into a corporate office setting, providing a valuable opportunity to see what a future career in law or business could look like.
During their visits, students met with attorneys and legal professionals who shared their personal career journeys, discussed their daily responsibilities, and answered questions about the legal field. They learned about various practice areas, including corporate law, litigation, public interest law, and other legal specialties, while also discovering the many behind-the-scenes roles that contribute to a firm's success, including marketing, business development, administration, and operations.
The partnership extended beyond office tours. Norris McLaughlin also invested in the professional development of our students by meeting with our junior and senior participants to provide guidance on creating marketable resumes and building strong LinkedIn profiles. These sessions offered practical advice on presenting themselves professionally, developing their personal brand, and preparing for future educational and career opportunities.
To further support their growth, Norris McLaughlin arranged for professional headshots for both mentors and mentees. This thoughtful investment provided participants with valuable tools they can use for college applications, internships, scholarships, networking opportunities, and future employment pursuits.
